Governance: An Advanced Discussion

Everyone agrees that boards govern and staff manage, but
what exactly is governance? Is governance a truly unique
discipline or is it a super layer of (micro) management?
Based on the work of John Carver, Ph.D., this session will
help the participants develop an organizational
understanding and theoretical model in order to better
balance the sometimes confusing roles of governing and
managing in a not-for-profit organization!

your non-profit afford to be left behind? Changes within
the non-profit industry are being quickly advanced by the
Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Pennsylvania Bureau of
Charitable Organizations (BCO), watchdog groups, and even
political groups. This course will focus on the best
practices on board/committee involvement in the financial
reporting process, policies you should have in place to
protect yourself from the IRS and the BCO, and other changes
being promulgated by various organizations.
