Transformational Leadership Series - Fall 2016

Become a Transformational Leader who creates an inspiring vision of the future, motivates people to deliver on that vision, and builds stronger relationships.

Elizabethtown College's School of Continuing and Professional Studies in partnership with Leadership Lancaster present the Transformational Leadership Breakfast Series.

The Transformational Leadership Series is designed to take your leadership to the next level. Participants will analyze the characteristics of transformational and servant leadership and examine best practices that integrate those characteristics to become a more effective leader. Participants will also learn how to demonstrate authentic leadership, create a culture of collaboration and build higher performing teams.

Current faculty members of Elizabethtown College's graduate programs and local leadership experts will be presenting.

Individual sessions are $75/per person, or $250 for all four sessions. Each session will be capped at 30 participants. Sessions will be held at the IU-13 in Lancaster and breakfast will be provided.

Session Information:

Transforming Leadership for Lancaster County with Roger North, North Group
Session One: September 21, 2016
8 am to 10 am

This first session examines the characteristics of transformational leaders and explores the topic by identifying transformational leaders in the Lancaster County community. Through an analysis of this leadership style, session participants will be able to integrate different motivation strategies within their leadership practices to inspire and mobilize members of their team. Participants will be challenged to review their current personal definition of leadership and discuss how the philosophy of transformational leadership can be incorporated into this definition.

Serving for Growth with Steve Fries, Lead Faculty, Master of Business Administration, Elizabethtown College's School for Continuing and Professional Studies
Session Two: October 5
8 am to 10 am

How do transformational and servant leaders work together? This session will explore how the values and characteristics of transformational and servant leaders can be integrated to serve our community. Case studies of servant leaders will be used to illustrate the philosophy of this leadership style and how it can be used for personal growth. Participants will also be asked to explore their own values and how that relates to their approach to leadership. Concepts from the Rokeach Value Survey will be incorporated to further the examination of how values and servant leadership are interconnected.

Teaming for Results with Karen Mitchell, Lead Faculty, Master of Science in Strategic Leadership, Elizabethtown College's School for Continuing and Professional Studies
Session Three: October 19
8 am to 10 am

As leaders, we become the architects of building and sustaining effective teams. This third session explores the characteristics of high performing teams and explores how to integrate such strategies within our organizations. Team dynamics, communication methods and performance metrics that lead to effective team collaboration will be explored in this session. Leaders will challenged to transform teams through the investigation and integration of their personal strengths as well as the strengths of their team members.

Diversifying for Stronger Organizations with David Nice, Graduate Faculty, Elizabethtown College's School for Continuing and Professional Studies
Session Four: November 2
8 am to 10 am

Understanding the differences within our community and organizations is a key consideration for leaders. In this final session, participants will explore how diversity can be used to develop stronger teams and also explore the challenges associated with building a diverse organization. Participants will evaluate the factors of successful relationships, including providing feedback, mentoring and managing conflict. How to generate an atmosphere of inclusion when working with a variety of teams & both in person and virtual & will be explored.
