Hello Core Class,
Our next session is Law & Justice on WEDNESDAY, April 3rd. AGENDA

BECAUSE OF SECURITY AT THE LOCATIONS WE WILL BE VISITING, IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU READ ALL THE INFORMATION IN THIS EMAIL AND RESPOND IN A TIMELY MANNER.

Our first stop is the Lancaster County Prison (625 E King Street).

Arrival time is promptly at 8:00am in order to allow for processing prior to entry. If you arrive at 8:30, you will be too late to process. If you arrive late, you will miss the prison tour. Please be on time.

Please hand sign the waiver.
Please date the waiver April 3, 2019.

We highly recommend carpooling. There is limited street parking surrounding the prison. Do not park in the prison lot. This lot is for employee parking only and you will be towed.

If you don't mind a walk, parking is available for a fee at the E King Street Garage (150 E King Street), Penn Square Garage (28 S Duke Street), or Duke Street Garage (150 N Duke Street). All garages are close to the day's other stop.

Prison instructions:
We must be cleared in order to enter the prison so it is critical to arrive at 8:00a. If you arrive early, please wait outside so as not to crowd the small waiting area. If you arrive late, you will miss the tour.
Items such as gum, lighters, umbrellas, etc. are not permitted in the prison under any circumstances. Please leave them in your car.

CELL PHONES, APPLE WATCHES, ANY other portable electronic device, and PURSES will NOT be permitted inside the prison. Please leave them in your car. High heels, hooded sweatshirts, scarves, hoop earrings, and open-toed shoes will NOT be permitted inside the prison.

I will collect only car keys and redistribute following the tour.

There will be no breakfast available at the Prison. Once we begin the tour there will not be restrooms available.

After the Prison tour, we will be heading to the Lancaster Court House (50 N Duke St, Lancaster).

Coffee and granola bars will be available there.

Dress for the day is business attire.
You will be presenting before a sitting Judge in a courtroom. Please dress accordingly. Jeans are not acceptable. High heels, hooded sweatshirts, scarves, hoop earrings, and open-toed shoes are not permitted for the prison tour.

There is a group activity during the second half of the day. Please let me know as soon as possible if you will not be able attend as this will impact assignments.

You will be receiving a second email early next week with specific scenarios for the group to which you have been assigned. Please read over this information prior to class so you have a better understanding of the group exercises. In past years we have had a scenario hit a participant close to home. If you have any concerns about your scenario, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Additionally, we will be hearing from the survivor of a sexual assault crime in the afternoon. The subject matter is difficult. If you have any concerns, please reach out to me ahead of the session and we can discuss.
You do not need to bring your notebook.
